The night opens with an open stage: short sets from the floor, so there is room for a few more voices before the main sets. Thara is a South African singer-songwriter based in the Netherlands, writing pop-folk songs about love, change, longing and faith — personal songs that aim to feel familiar to whoever is listening. Walter Rootsie is an Amsterdam singer-songwriter whose set moves between country, folk, blues and roots, with stories between the songs.
